Hi, I am Jay Krause and I live at Burleigh Heads (the world renown surf break) on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

I am a self employed share trader , which to some extent allows me to continue working on my laptop whilst travelling.
In February 2006 I bought a new Harley Dyna Wide Glide (having previously owned a Honda 750 / 4 stroke back in the mid seventies) as a reward for having given up cigarettes.
I have now become an addicted rider, having ridden over 45,000kms on that bike since then, to various HOG Rallies around Australia.
This includes the 2006 National HOG Rally at Airlie Beach in Tropical North Queensland, possibly my favourite Rally.

This was followed by the 2007 National HOG Rally at the Barossa Valley in South Australia, the 2007 Victorian State HOG Rally at Phillip Island (the home of the Australian Moto GP) in Victoria and the 2008 Tasmanian State HOG Rally in February of that year.
I also attended the 2008 New Zealand National HOG Rally at Palmerston North, also in February of that year.
My biggest riding thrill was 6 weeks and some 7,500 miles (yes miles and on a rental Wide Glide) riding around the USA, including Sturgis and Milwaukee for the 25th anniversary of HOG and 105th anniversary of Harley Davidson in August and September 2008.
To date, being August 2009, I have ridden to the Queensland State Rally in Rockhampton and in November I will riding down (ferry from Victoria to Tasmania) to Tasmania for the 19th National Australian HOG Rally.

There are also a few overnight rides coming up in the near future, one being a “Cure for Cancer” ride in Toowoomba late in August.
There are a couple of longer rides, including a charity ride, that I am looking at for during 2010, including to Darwin and Alice Springs and Ayres Rock.
At this stage I am tentatively planning on travelling to the USA and doing Sturgis again in August 2011, commencing this time in Los Angeles, doing Vegas, the Grand Canyon, up through Denver and the Rockies to Sturgis, across west through Yellowstone National Park, down to San Franscisco and finishing back LA.
I wiil endeavour to keep this blog reasonably up to date with rides etc as they occur.
