Not that anyone is actually leaving me as against leaving to go to Sturgis, as I was reminded on a club ride yesterday.
A dozen members of the Gold Coast HOG Chapter leave on 21 July, for their annual “pilgrimage” to Sturgis.
They fly into Las Vegas, where they pick up their rental bikes and ride up Sturgis, where they stay until the beginning of August (remembering that Sturgis runs for 3 weeks in total), before returning to Las Vegas and then home.
These guys can tell you how many “sleeps” it is before they leave.
TJ and his wife Rita (they are renewing their wedding vows in Vegas) will be touring around the US for a couple of weeks before attending the HOG and Harley Anniversary celebrations in Milwaukee at the end of August.
Although I will miss seeing these guys in Sturgis (we are there 6th, 7th and 8th August), I expect to catch up with TJ and Rita in Milwaukee.
A few on our tour are starting the tour in San Francisco on 22 July, so they will also be departing around 21 July.
From Frisco, they will ride through California, across to Vegas, through the Grand Canyon and onto Denver, where we will meet up with them.
Preparations being finalised, double checking riding gear and equipment, banter about the trip, yes the tension is building and some of us will get to go to.
